So after getting a recommendation from a Twitter pal about a great vegetarian restaurant on Crown Street, I took some interstate visitors to Yulli’s for dinner.
Yulli’s is directly opposite The Clock Hotel, which is a super handy meeting place to catch up with friends for a pre-dinner drink.
We went on a Monday night, and to play it safe I booked a table through their website. I am so glad I did! When we arrived (just after 6pm) surprisingly every table was already reserved. Name cards were on each table so you could easily find where you were sitting.
To start we shared the zucchini flowers and the leek and ginger dumplings. Yum!
After we placed our orders we soon realised that nearly every other table had the salt and pepper tofu to share. It looked REALLY good – a fantastic excuse to go again!
Our mains were suki yaki glass noodles, a porcini mushroom and haloumi pizza, a vegetable prik king and a huge toasted bagel with avocado, grilled haloumi and caramalised onions.
Really impressive – we all really enjoyed our meals.
It’s a really comfortable and relaxed restaurant. The only thing I would suggest is that they don’t turn the lights way down low as it became a little too dark. They were trying to create an atmosphere though as candles were placed on each table. I don’t know about you but I like to see what I’m eating! Half the fun for me is appreciating how great a dish looks when served.
For dessert we had the white Belgian chocolate caramel slice and the lychee and apricot tapioca with coconut ice cream. The other desserts looked just as good!
And the rating?
The food is really delicious and the portions are generous. It’s also reasonably priced. Given how popular it is, even on a Monday night, it must be a favourite with the locals. They are licensed too. I’m so impressed with Yulli’s and I really want to go back so it scores a happy me x 3!
