1-7 October is International Vegetarian Week. To mark the event, Animals Australia have set the challenge to go veg for a week.
Now I know in my bio, I promised that I wasn’t here to try and turn anyone into a vego. Don’t panic, I still stand by that! However I am curious to know if the outcome of being vego for a week encourages people to think a bit more about what they eat, and maybe even consider opting to introduce a few meatless meals into the weekly routine.
So dear readers.. could you go meatless for a week?
Why go veg? The motivation can be a tricky one so if you’re not sure, here’s an incentive: going meatless for one week would not only be kind to the planet, it would also save the lives of two animals. That’s right, TWO!!
If you are considering the Veg Week Challenge, here is some advice about what to eat, recipes and meal suggestions. If you are eating out, they also have a good list of vego restaurants in Australia.
I would love to hear from anyone pledging to go veg for a week. I’m behind you all the way! What made you take up the challenge? What is the week is like for you? Share your story and recipes!

Woohoo, easy enough for me
Haha, won’t take much effort at all
I’m in. I’m mostly vegetarian anyway, but I like a good challenge.
Wonderful! I look forward to hearing about it
Ooh I hadn’t heard about the challenge. Veg all round, it’s International Vegetarian Day and it kicks off Vegetarian Awareness Month for October. Challenge sounds like a great idea… And clearly not much of a stretch for us!
Happy veg month! The challenge is a great initiative and hopefully one that a lot of people will try
we eat vego meals all the time! i’m not vegetarian but we try to keep a balance each week between red meat, white meat, seafood and no meat. I also try to eat meat only once a day.
Oh go you, that’s fab! These kind of stories make my heart smile
