So, September is done and dusted. It’s scary to think how close to Christmas we are already. Admittedly I didn’t eat out a whole lot this month, as I’ve spent most of it on a food restrictive cleanse. These are some of the memorable meals I had when I was allowed to eat!
I met up with gal pals for a weeknight bite at Betty’s Burgers in Darling Harbour. The good news is that they have a vegetarian option, the bad news is that it’s not exactly healthy. I had the shroom burger which had an enormous leaf of lettuce and was filled with a crumbed mushroom and oozy cheese patty. I’ll admit that it wasn’t my cup of tea, and isn’t something I’d have again. If you’re a fan of an indulgent burg, give it a try. I’d be keen to hear what others think.
Sometimes, you just can’t beat a local favourite. One sunny Saturday morning I took a drive out to Blacktown for a working brunch at The Old Boy. Usually this epic kale and mushroom toast is served with a poached egg so I opted for a side of hash brown instead. It’s such a winner, this dish never fails to disappoint.
When the craving for a hearty Malaysian dish hits, I love going to PappaRich because they have loads of vegetarian options. I went to the Parramatta restaurant which is right near the train station. I tried something different this time and went with a vegetarian fried mee hoon with a lychee soda. So full of flavour!
After hearing how busy The Grounds of the City gets, right in the heart of Sydney, an early weeknight dinner seemed like the best time to beat the crowds of this popular new eatery. I had the chirashi salad with brown rice, seaweed, baby cos, avocado, cucumber, coriander and lime. It’s almost impossible to skip dessert, especially when the trolley comes past the table displaying all the beautiful sweets. The strawberry tart was a winner, and not too sweet either.
