Oh byeeee October! I’m in a bit of denial about it being so close to the holiday season already. Instead I’ll just focus on the veg eating highlights I had last month.
At the start of the month I headed to Newtown to check out the annual Newtown Good Food Fair. Popping down early to beat the crowds and see all the stalls setting up was the way to go. I went for an epic chilli dog by Suzy Spoon’s Vegetarian Butcher and a crunchy palmier treat from Black Star Pastry. If I’d had more time, I would have spent the day there and tried a bunch of snacks!
Good news friends, I’ve found a new local for a decent hot chocolate (trust me, a GOOD one can be hard to find). The lads behind The Baron recently opened up Good Fella at Bella Vista, right near the upcoming train station. It’s a great little spot to sit down and grab a coffee (or hot choc) and a simple bagel, sandwich or salad.
The arrival of huge stores including IKEA and Costco can make a trip to Marsden Park a fruitful day out. But it can’t be all about shopping right, a girl’s gotta eat! The folks at Burger Point have a pretty great and non-greasy vegetarian burger loaded with mushroom, haloumi and semi-dried tomatoes. Wash it down with a creamy vanilla shake and cheesy shoestring fries. Then it’s time for a well deserved lie down.
