November seemed to pass by in a flash and now we’re on the downhill stretch to Christmas. Yikes! Not wanting to wish the time away too quickly, I’m looking back on some of the memorable eats I had last month.
A while back I hit Soul Burger’s first shop in Randwick and as they recently opened up another eatery a little closer to home in Glebe, I went to check out the new digs. With still so much of the menu yet to try, I had the classic cheeseburger with a side of green fries. This joint is shaping up to be a new favourite for a quick and comforting veg meal.
Needing a quick fix on a weekday, I stopped by Wok on Inn at Sydney Olympic Park. I wasn’t up for a big meal and asked the server which of the dishes were vegetarian. I went with three dishes from the snack menu which was a great way to try a bit of everything. There was a crispy tofu puffs with peanut sauce, vegetable spring rolls and a hearty Buddha’s steamed vegetable bowl. All three for under $15! Bargain.
Park Feast is a new day and night weekend food festival at Bella Vista featuring loads of food trucks as well as live music and rides for the kids. It’s in my ‘hood so I went along to check it out (three times over the two days) and enjoyed some good eats including a huge ice cream cookie sandwich from Stroop Bros. The festival is returning in February so I’m very keen to go back and see what’s on offer.
I had a fab lunch at Italian eatery Salt Meats Cheese at Broadway. Don’t be put off by the name, there’s some good veg options here! I had the truffle mushroom pizza (too much to eat in one sitting so took the rest home for dinner) and my friend had the veg burger with a side of crunchy wedges. We enjoyed this meal so much that we’ve arranged to go back for dinner in December! Side note: If you’re in the area check out the new food court at Broadway Shopping Centre. It’s way better and is now home to loads of good joints to eat at.
Last on the November good eats list was brunch at old fave, Circa Espresso in Parramatta. I’m still on board with Australia’s love of avocado (or butter fruit as it’s known in Sri Lanka) so I had avocado smash on charcoal toast (sans egg) while both my friends went for the ottoman eggs.
So friends, did you have any memorable eats in November? Hit me up in the comments with your favourites.
