Oh July. It may be winter and a little cold out but that hasn’t stopped me from enjoying loads of great vegetarian eats around town.
I tried the vegan eggs and as it’s been years since I had eggs, for a second I thought they were actually real. So they’re pretty dang convincing! They have a great menu, I’m well keen to go back and try more of their healthy dishes.
There’s a Vietnamese eatery in Surry Hills that I’ve been to three times this month. Really! It’s Great Aunty Three and they’ve got some great veg options. This here is the rice, vegetable and tofu bowl. They also do a fabulous vegetarian noodle bowl with crispy spring rolls.
For my birthday I stepped out to have something fancy for lunch. It had been an age since I visited Devon Cafe in Surry Hills so I went with the indulgent mushroom, spinach and truffle toastie (without the poached egg).
It was certainly the most expensive toasted sandwich I’ve ever had but it sure did hit the treat yo’self goal.
Rosebery is one of my favourite areas to visit for a long, lazy day of wandering and snacking. On a sunny Saturday I had lunch at Three Blue Ducks, in the huge space that was previously home to Kitchen by Mike.
For entree we shared the eggplant tempura with wasabi mayo and for main I had a hearty plate of wood roasted veggies with baba ghanoush, kraut and dukkah. It was a perfect comforting meal for a cold winter Sunday.
As much as I enjoy a healthy meal, I do so love a naughty snack. Vegetarian fast food chain Lord of the Fries in Sydney is super convenient for a weekday visit. I tried the new chick’n fries and it was really quite tasty. Super crunchy and full of flavour – a kind and guilt free version of fried chicken.
