After leaving the Hmong Hilltribe in northern Thailand, we jumped in the bus for a drive to the old ruins of Sukhothai.
We took a leisurely bike ride around Sukhothai Historical Park to see the crumbling remains and old temples, Buddha statues and museums.
A bicycle is the best way to see this small city. It’s a flat and easy ride and walking it would take WAY longer.
Having seen lots of temple ruins, including the famous sites in Cambodia, what I particularly enjoyed about Sukhothai was how peaceful and happy the Buddha statues were. They emanated a sense of calm which gave me a lovely dose of holiday zen.
Up next: I visit the war-time city of Kanchanaburi.
