Don’t you just love the interwebs? It makes life so much easier, especially when traveling. When my pals and I hung out in Shoreditch, handy sites like Urbanspoon made finding good places to eat a cinch.
In between visiting some of Shoreditch’s coffee shops and being wowed by the impressive street art, we were unknowingly drawn to a little bit of home at Salvation Jane (now called Lantana, like the original cafe in Fitzrovia) for a much-needed holiday brunch.
The relaxed Australian cafe features a cosy, pale mint dining area on one side of the room and a funky art-painted wall on the other. And the food, well you can forget any of the notions you may have about the food in England being stodgy.
While my travel pals dined on some of the meat-based offerings, I enjoyed a hearty plate of roasted portobello mushrooms, grilled asparagus, garlic labne on sourdough with a herb salad and chilli oil and a couple of haloumi triangles on the side.
Just like brunch Down Under, right?
