As my week in the Blue Mountains was coming to an end, there was one stop I was keen to make before I left town. Rubyfruit vegan bakery had long been on my wish list and I was looking forward to lunching at their cafe in the picturesque town of Leura.
Having had recently tried an incredible Rubyfruit vegan chocolate cream pie at the Cruelty Free Festival, I knew that I was in for a treat.
The vegan cafe is tucked away upstairs in Leura Mall, off the main street. During my Friday visit it was empty on arrival at midday however shortly afterwards a few other tables filled up and others stopped by to pick up some take away treats.
Too excited to decide what to have, at the recommendation of the waitress I ordered the enormous nachos bowl. The mighty serve included corn chips, beans, avocado and salad. Without doubt, this was one of the best nachos I’ve ever had. Thankfully I had only had a small breakfast so I could fit it all in!
My pals both went with decent sized burgers and a choice of side salad. I would have tried them both if I was able to take my eyes off my own jumbo meal.
The display cabinet at the counter was impressively filled with sweets, cupcakes and cakes – sadly after lunch I couldn’t fit anything in.
Never fear, that’s what take away is for! I had a decadent chocolate cupcake and a chocolate covered coconut macaroon. Perfect little snacks to enjoy back at home.
It’s great to see a successful veg eatery out of Sydney, a place I would happily visit again when I’m next in the Mountains.
