Over the weekend I went for a drive out to Parklea Markets to check out the fresh produce section.
I haven’t been there for years and it took me down memory lane to my early working days, when a girlfriend and I used to go clothes shopping there with our incredibly small budgets.
This market is enormous and it’s a real sensory overload. So much to see and smell. One minute you are walking by an overpowering perfume counter, then a hot donut stand, then an incense stall.
Given the size of the place, the fresh food section isn’t as big as you would expect. There are fruit and veg stalls, a fresh seafood counter, a bakery and a deli.
I was going to buy some apples but they looked a little bruised so I didn’t buy anything. I really just went there for a look and to be honest, I don’t think I would go there again. I’m sure there are much better fresh food markets in Sydney for me to check out!
Nothing says market like cob-o-corn and of course I had one!

awww I miss Parklea.. that girlfriend wouldn’t be me would it??
Ha, of course it’s you Lyns!! It’s certainly not as much fun now as it used to be
