On a day of shopping in Fitzroy, we stopped for a sweet treat at Donut Shop. These baked snacks are all the rage right now, and for good reason. We went for a raspberry and yuzu and a choc mint donut. These guys were light, fluffy and not too sweet.
On a drive down to the Mornington Peninsula, we stopped for lunch at The Epicurean in Red Hill. They have a huge pizza oven in the restaurant so I ordered a margarita pizza. It was crisp, light and lovely. And well worth the trip down from the city.
One of the lushest treats I’ve had in a long time was at Pidapipo in Windsor. They make creamy Italian gelato and it’s not to be missed. I had a cup of raspberry swirl and it was a total delight for such a hot day.
Along a windy, seaside road in Arthurs Seat, there’s an incredible view of the coastline at Murrays Lookout. When the weather is right, it’s a beautiful place to stop and take a few touristy snaps.
A no-plan holiday is a great excuse to hit a bar for happy hour every afternoon which is that’s exactly what I did at Tyranny of Distance in Windsor. I also tried most of their veg snacks! As well as cheap drinks, some of the highlights were the zucchini chips, eggplant chips, the Asian pancake, the capsicum croquettes and the veg nachos. What better way is there to enjoy a few days off?
There’s never enough time when I visit Melbourne, I always wish I was able to see and do more.
