The month of March brings the second annual Meat Free Week, an initiative challenging Australian’s to take a break from eating meat for seven days.
Australian’s consume nearly three times the world average of meat and this is contributing to global meat production which is expected to DOUBLE within a mere six years. Astonishing, right? Let’s do something about this!
To get involved all you need to do is go without meat and seafood for a week and have your family, friends and colleagues sponsor you. Simple, right?
Here’s the kicker. Whether you’re interested in animal welfare, the environment or health, this year it’s even easier to raise funds for something you care about. Meat Free Week has three leading charities you can choose from to donate your sponsored cash:
- Voiceless, the animal protection institute
- The Australian Conservation Foundation
- Bowel Cancer Australia
You don’t have to be going meat free to get involved – anyone can sponsor a participant or make a general donation through the Meat Free Week website.
Do tell friends, could you go without meat for a week?
