When I think of fast food I think cheap, processed, salty, fatty, fried (and sometimes devilishly tasty) rubbish.
Thankfully, the Mad Mex chain is different.
Tacos, nachos, burritos and quesadillas with lots of fresh fillings. Delish!
These stores are starting to pop up everywhere. The decor is fantastic. Every store has funky artwork of their trademark wrestler. Long tables to sit at and the best part? A Corona bottle chandelier!

What I like about Mad Mex is that, as the writing on their wall says, they use recipes from the Baja peninsular of Mexico – an area I visited many years ago when my sister and I travelled by bus to the coastal town of Ensenada. The food was so fresh and interesting – I’ve had a real love of Mexican food ever since.
Orders are placed at the glass counter, similar to Subway. You can see all the topping and watch your order being made.
I’ve had the quesadilla before (which is really good) so this time I went with nachos. I chose the ‘Vegetariano’ topping which is a mixture of sauteed eggplant, zucchini and mushrooms. Then come all the questions about other toppings and salsas. I had black beans, corn salsa, mild tomato salsa, melted cheese and guacamole. This is all stacked high on corn chips.
I also had a mandarin flavoured Mexican soda. I’m not usually one for soft drink, because to be completely honest, the bubbles make me burp! But this soda isn’t overly carbonated which is perfect for me.
Afterwards I couldn’t resist having the churros with chocolate dipping sauce. It’s like a long, thin, crunchy, sugary cinnamon donut. So good!

And now for my rating:
Mad Mex is fast and healthy and the prices are reasonable. The servings are generous, the fillings are fresh and the staff are friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed. Not like a fast food place where they try to get you in and out quickly. This makes me happy x 1!

I love the Corona light features in their stores
I was impressed with their food when I ate there too.
Mexican food is so good. And it’s so nice to see a fresh & healthy fast food option!
