Easter! It’s such a sweet time of year, the time when people are greedily gobbling chocolate eggs and all things sugary. Well who am I to disagree?
If you’re looking for a few chocolately treats to make here are some ideas:
This year I’ve got a little something different up my sleeve. Ma recently returned from a trip to Japan and while unfortunately I couldn’t join her (I’m saving my leave for a trip next month, more on that to come) I asked her to bring me back loads of flavoured Kit Kats.
The mother did not disappoint! When we caught up on her return she handed me a big bag filled with:
- Strawberry cheese cake
- Tamaruya-hoten wasabi
- Tokyo rum raisin
- Cookies and cream
- Kyuemon uji matcha
- Grilled cheese
What better way to enjoy special treats than with gal pals! After a weekend brunch we had ourselves a Kit Kat party, trying all the different flavours and picking out our favourites. Me? I like the wasabi – light green white chocolate that gives out a teency bit of heat on the tongue.
What caught my eye was the Kit Kat that you put in the oven. It sounds strange, right? I couldn’t resist giving it a try.
You grill these mini snacks for 10 minutes which results in a warm and sweet white chocolate treat with a hint of cheese. Oh those kooky Japanese!
I love finding strange and wonderful goodies overseas. What odd treats have you come across on your travels?
