After a spontaneous decision to start a food blog and a little tinkering with the look, on this day last year I published my very first post. And then whoosh, how quickly a year goes by!
Ok so it might sound a little soppy, but I really feel like I’ve achieved so much more than I expected. It was just meant to be a bit of fun but it’s taken on a life of its own. I’ve made great friendships with some amazing and talented food bloggers, migrated to a self-hosted site, was interviewed on the radio about International Vegetarian Week and just yesterday, featured as the Foodista Food Blog of the Day. Ok yes, I AM tooting my own horn a tad.. toot toot!
The most popular post was Mini peppermint crisp pies (which also featured in a Great Australian Bakeline newsletter) very closely followed by A moral dilemma, which generated the most comments and a fascinating discussion.
One of my goals for the year was to improve my kitchen confidence. Along with the help of the popular Cooking with Ma series, I am on my way to achieving this with:
- Paella class at Extra Fine Virgin Foods in Crows Nest
- Pasta making at Parma in Surry Hills
- Vegetarian cooking at Hopewood Health Retreat in Wallacia
- Chocolate making at Coco Chocolate in Mosman
I’ve had such a blast so far, these are some of my highlights:
- skiing in Japan and bumping into Adam Liaw
- my first meeting with a fab bunch of food bloggers
- my very first giveaway!
I’m definitely growing as I go and one of the things I love most is hearing from YOU. Your comments really help me shape the blog. So thank you, I’m so glad to have you with me.
So dear readers, what have you enjoyed the most so far? What would you like to see more of?
Stay tuned as we head into the second year, the best is yet to come! x
