I am just loving the warmer weather Sydney has been treating us to over the past few weeks. There’s a sweet scent in the air, the trees are showing off their new floral sprouts and I’ve got a spring in my step. With people starting to emerge from the winter hibernation bubble, it’s the perfect time to start having lazy catch ups in the sunshine with pals.
My sister and I took advantage of a sunny Saturday and headed out for brunch at Double Roasters in Marrickville.
Double Roasters is located on a main road and with not much else open they are seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Clearly this works in their favour because by mid morning, the place was jam packed. I’m guessing it’s a real treat for the locals. Thankfully they have loads of seating – on the sidewalk out front, inside and along a narrow side alley.
While we perused the menu, I sipped on an excellent soy hot chocolate. Recently I have gotten into the habit of asking for cinnamon with a hot chocolate, it just makes them taste so much better!
After much deliberation I went for the corn and zucchini fritters with avocado mash and rocket, one of the specials. My sis had the juicy mushrooms on sourdough. Both were delish! Really generously sized servings, beautifully presented and packed full of flavour.
How did it rate?
I really liked Double Roasters. It had a relaxed and casual feel even though it was busy. The dishes were tasty and reasonably priced and the staff were friendly. I’d love to go back and try more of the menu, and maybe even a sneaky treat from the sweets cabinet. It’s two happy faces for me!
