I recently returned from beautiful Western Australia, on Intrepid Travel’s Broome to Perth overland tour. WOW.It was my first group tour in Australia, and my first adult camping experience. We covered a LOT of ground – in total we traveled by bus for almost 4,000kms. We spent some nights camping in tents, and the rest in hostel dorms.
As one who usually takes trips overseas, this tour really gave me a real taste of what Australia has to offer. It’s such an amazing and fascinating country and it made me realise how easy it is to take for granted what’s in your own backyard. I’m now intent on exploring more of what we have Down Under.
Some of my favourite experiences included:
- Swimming in spectacular waterholes at Karijini National Park
- The soft white sands at Eighty Mile Beach
- Snorkelling with enormous manta rays at Coral Bay
- Getting up close with dolphins at Monkey Mia
- The stromatolites at Hamelin Pool
- Ancient limestone formations at The Pinnacles
The tour was a fantastic mix of the outback and the coast, featuring some of Western Australia’s most spectacular sites. I’m a total beach gal and usually gravitate to destinations by the sea so I really enjoyed the contrast of spending time out in the desert.
Now when I think of WA, I’m struck with contrasting visions of dry land and red dirt, as well as crystal clear blue waters.
I’ll be sharing posts of my adventures real soon. In the meantime I would love to hear about the places you have visited in Australia.
Hit me up with your favourite Aussie destinations!
