Japanese food is amazing. I’m not talking about the Westernised version we have in Australia, I’m talking about REAL Japanese food, made in Japan.
I think it’s fair to say that the Japanese put their heart and soul into everything they do. Food in particular, is prepared with much care and detail. Presentation is always immaculate. This makes it compulsory for me to take a photo of everything before eating!
One of the things I love about being in Japan, is being served a healthy and delicious breakfast, that has small portions of different dishes. Variety is fun! I would love to start every day this way.
There is a lot of fish served in Japan which sometimes you can’t get around. Especially in Hokkaido where I spent most of my holiday, as seafood is a speciality in that area. I rarely eat seafood but I did make an exception in Japan. Sometimes I would just leave the seafood portion aside and enjoy the rest of the meal.
- The first breakfast I had was in Tokyo airport.
- I then had a number of meals in Niseko, (I stayed in a bed and breakfast style hotel) where the style alternated between Japanese and Western each day. If I had a choice, I would have had a Japanese breakfast every day!
- My final breakfast was at a cousin’s place in Tokyo.
